CHAMPIONS CROWNED!

All Champions have been crowned. It was a great day at the Publix Atlanta Cup. Congratulations to all Champions and Finalists, there were some great matches today. Thanks to all the Venues and their volunteers - it couldn't happen without you! And thanks to Mother Nature for holding off the rain til we were done. Have a happy Labor Day and a great fall season.

September 5 - 11:30 am - First round Champions and Finalists are crowned. Second round matches in progress. Light rain on and off at all venues. Having fun on Championship Monday!

6:45 am - Welcome to Championship Monday. All venues are open and we are planning to play games.Make sure you check out the cool Championship Monday t-shirt at the venues. Check back for updates as things may change with the weather. Good luck and have fun!

September 4 - 7:00 pm - Congratulations to all teams advancing to Championship Monday. The Tournament Committee would like to see all matches played tomorrow but it will depend on how much rain falls tonight. The website will be updated by 6:45 am with field information. If fields are unplayable, and there is no lightning, Champions will be determined by Kicks from the Mark. If there is lightning and we are not able to complete kicks, Co-Champions will be crowned. See you tomorrow, check back for updates in the morning.

2:00 pm - The semifinals are in progress. Follow your favorite team here - check back for scores and updates.

There were lots of great games this morning with several Divisions going to tie breakers and kicks to advance teams into the semis. Good luck in your afternoon games. 

We are monitoring the weather for Championship Monday. The tournament will attempt to play all games tomorrow but it will depend on the amount of rain and if fields remain safe and playable. The safety of the players is our greatest concern. We will update all teams advancing to the finals by email later today and post info on the website as it becomes available. Good luck in your matches today.

September 3 - Good luck to all teams tomorrow. A reminder for teams that will advance to Championship Monday - if you want to move hotels for Sunday night, please call Connections Housing at 404-844-4404 between 9 am and 6 pm on Sunday.

September 1 - Team check-in, for teams that have not completed check-in, is Friday, September 2 at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North from 3 pm to 9 pm. All check-in information is posted under the DOCUMENTS tab.

August 18 - The Publix Atlanta Cup is now offering On-Line Check-In. This feature will be available through Sunday, August 28. After that date, you will be required to check your team in at Tournament Headquarters on Friday night, September 2.

REMINDER: All Georgia teams must submit information for two volunteers to help with tournament check in on Friday 9/2. Please complete the volunteer forms ASAP.

- Adult registration is open. Please complete an online application with payment.

- We have just added additional fields and are able to add teams to some Divisions. If your team would like to play, please complete a 'WAIT LIST' application under the APPLY tab.

July 19
- We have a few spots open in some Divisions. If your team would like to play, please complete a 'wait list' application under the APPLY tab. We will contact you with openings.

July 14
- Accepted Teams now posted under the TEAMS tab. We are currently working on placing teams into Divisions and will posted in late July. Once Divisions are posted you will be able to secure hotel rooms. Connections Housing will be available to answer any questions and assist with your housing needs.

All team forms will be posted next week.

We have a few openings in some Divisions. If your team would like to apply, please complete an application, along with payment and we'll do our best to get your team into the tournament.

July 8
- Acceptances will be posted early next week. Divisions will be posted in late July.

July 2
- Due to many requests because of the July 4 Holiday, we are extending the application deadline through Wednesday, July 6. Please make sure that your applications are complete, along with payment by next Wednesday. Also, remember to update your SIC information as we use their rankings to place teams into divisions. JUST THE FACTS

Of course you know the Publix Atlanta Cup takes place on Labor Day weekend each year. However, we can provide some more information on upcoming dates and pertinent facts. Take note of these key dates and tournament highlights.

TOURNAMENT ELIGIBILITY

The Publix Atlanta Cup is open to select teams, registered and in good standing with their US Youth Soccer or US Soccer Affiliated Association. Age groups for this years’ tournament are u10, u11, u12, u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, u19 for boys and girls.

DIVISIONS

Teams will be grouped according to past playing record to make the most competitive divisions possible. The Publix Atlanta Cup Committee alone determines final placement. The Committee uses many factors when ranking teams including league playing division and record, State Cup and tournament results, USA Rank ranking service, etc.

GAMES

All teams will play 3 round-robin games - 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday Morning. Semi-finals are played on Sunday afternoon and Finals are played on Monday. The latest finals will begin at 2:00 PM on Monday.

HOTELS

Teams that require lodging are required to stay in Publix Atlanta Cup approved hotels. Reservations will be handled by Connections, our tournament housing company. Hotels, descriptions, and rates will be posted on the tournament website. Teams may book rooms after divisions are announced.

If there is a hotel where your team would like to stay – and you do not see the hotel on our approved list - just drop Connections a note and they will be happy to work with you. All hotel information will be available on our website or you can call Connections at 404-842-0000 or 800-262-9974.

TEAMS

All teams and players must be US Youth Soccer or US Soccer Affiliated Association for the ‘10-'11 seasonal year. Association roster and ‘11-‘12 player cards are required to participate. For teams that are with US Club Soccer, rosters, player passes, and proof of insurance for the '11-'12 seasonal year will be required.

The computerized team application system will assign your age group based on the age of your oldest registered player.

PLAYERS AND GUEST PLAYERS

All players must by registered for fall ’11 -’12. A player may play for only one team during the tournament. A maximum of 3 guest players per team is allowed (2 guest players for teams playing 6v6 and 8v8). Guest players must be registered and have a current ’11 -'12 player pass.

FORMAT

U10s will play 6v6 – maximum roster size is 12 players.
U11s and U12s will play 8v8 – maximum roster size is 14 players.
U13, U14, and U15 will play 11v11 - maximum roster size is 18.
U16, U17 and U19 will play 11v11 – maximum roster size is 22 players with 18 players eligible for each match.

AWARDS

Individual awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each division.

DEADLINES

July 2011 - Acceptances E-mailed

REGISTRATION

All applications are processed on-line. On-line registrations may be paid by check or credit card. You will receive an email confirmation when your application is submitted. While we encourage you to enter early, early application does not guarantee acceptance.

REFUNDS

Refunds will be made in their entirety to all teams not accepted. Once entries close, the entry fee is non-refundable. If your team withdraws prior to the entry close date, your entry fee will be refunded, minus a $50.00 administrative fee.

Refunds will only be made if the tournament is canceled due to weather or Acts of God, approximately one-half of the entry fee will be retained.

SCHEDULES

A representative must check the team in on Friday evening, September 2, 2011. Teams will play two games on Saturday. The earliest game Saturday begins at 8:00 am. The last final on Championship Monday will begin at 2:00 pm.

CONFLICTS

The Publix Atlanta Cup Committee works to minimize coaching conflicts. As much as we would like to help all teams, game schedules will not be adjusted to accommodate individual team scheduling or coach conflicts.

GUEST PLAYERS

Guest players will be allowed as follows – u10, u11, u12 two guest players allowed. U13 and older three guest players allowed. Guest players must be registered with US Youth Soccer or you US Soccer Affiliated Association for the '10 - '11 seasonal year and have player passes, etc.

GEORGIA TEAMS

The Publix Atlanta Cup is the largest fund-raiser for Georgia Soccer each year and volunteers are critical to the success of the event. Each Georgia team accepted into the tournament is required to provide two volunteers (six hours total) to help during the tournament. There are many opportunities to help - before the tournament, during registration or at the the fields. Volunteers are scheduled so they will not miss any of their teams games. Once accepted, each Georgia team will complete the volunteer information form. The Publix Atlanta Cup appreciates your support and willingness to help.

COLLEGE COACHES

The Publix Atlanta Cup will prepare a book of team information for u16, u17 and u19 age teams to assist the college coaches in their scouting efforts. Please complete the necessary information on the college section of the website.

Georgia Soccer is pleased to invite your team to apply to the Publix Atlanta Cup - Labor Day weekend, September 3-5, 2011. Now in its 33rd year, the tournament has become one of the premier tournaments in the country.

Already a Labor Day Weekend fixture in the Southeast, the Publix Atlanta Cup is one of the biggest and most competitive three-day tournaments in the United States offering multiple levels of competition for both boys and girls u10-u19.

In 2010 the Atlanta Cup hosted 650+ teams and this year projects over 800+ teams from across the country.

What is Online Check-in?

Online Check-in is an opportunity for you to skip the physical check-in by completing the process online. You will be required to upload .pdf files or images to the secure sincSports cloud. The event will determine which documents are included as a part of your check-in process.

11:30 am - off and on drizzle and light rain at all venues.
6:45 am - light drizzle at the fields. 

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 

2:00 pm - Still dry for now.

10:30 am - Monitoring weather. Rain coming in sometime in the late afternoon. We anticipate all semis will be played as scheduled. Will update for Championship Monday as we get additional information.

For now, the plan is to play all games on Monday as scheduled if the fields remain playable. If fields are not playable, and there is no lighting, we will determine Champions with Kicks from the Mark.
